Piper on Retirement

All this talk about John Piper got me looking into some of his stuff on mission. Here is a fantastic quote from a conference lecture he gave back in the mid-nineties:

I’m getting letters from the AARP. … I’m 50 and they’re trying to get me on their lists so I can have a discount on the train or… they… they have planes now. I forgot; I’m so old. … When you’re old you not only don’t have anything to lose in martyrdom, you get discount fares.
Lord, help us to age well and not wait until we're of retirement age to embrace your call.
