The Next Translation we can Condemn

The Southern Baptist Convention took an odd position criticizing the updated NIV in a resolution from the floor at the 2011 Annual Meeting. I’ve written my opinion about the new NIV and the resolution. Now, on sbcIMPACT!, I propose a new resolution for next year’s Annual Meeting.

Check it out here.

(By the way, I am very much a part of an SBC church—by conviction, not tradition.)

Missed Prayer Request

It seems I missed a prayer request coming out of Colombia (6/23). You'll notice that a lot of the requests deal with reaching indigenous peoples. We need to remember that though we have had the Bible freely accessible in English since the 1611 King James Version (500 years this year), many peoples are encountering the Word of God for the first time.

CHA AND TA OF COLOMBIA (chah; tah). Pease continue to pray that God will raise up someone with His vision and passion for the Cha and Ta people who will be willing and able to take the Gospel message to these people groups. Pray that churches in Colombia will be faithful to pray for this need, share the need from the pulpit, and extend God's call to His laborers.
