Book Review: This Little Prayer of Mine

Four Stars, from Hannah:

This Little Prayer of Mine teaches children how to pray as they read a brother and sister's prayer. The book shows kids a variety of ways to pray as the characters thank God, ask forgiveness, express a desire to serve, and request protection from various problems in life. Although the prayer covers many topics, the author adds continuity by using the same phrases and wording throughout. When you read it aloud, the words flow together.

I have reviewed many children's prayer books, but this one stands out because it teaches more than one form of prayer. Most simply teach kids to say 'thank you' or to make requests. It is illustrated with realistic, detailed paintings. I enjoyed studying all the details on each page, from the teddy bear in the boy's bedroom to the grocery store ad for robot toys. The illustrations and quality text make this book a first choice for children ages 4 to 8 and would make a quality bedtime story.

I received this book free from WaterBrook Multnomah as part of their Blogging for Books book review program. I was not obligated to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are mine.
